Welcome to the HPCANYS Palliative Care Center
Providing information, news and research for both provider members and the community
The Hospice & Palliative Care Association of New York State (HPCANYS) has made a strong commitment to assure that palliative care is integrated into all functional areas of the Association, including education, communication, and advocacy. HPCANYS has dedicated staff and Association resources to provide the services and support our member programs need to thrive in this ever-changing and evolving health care environment.
HPCANYS has also placed a strong focus on public engagement and community outreach to assure that all residents of New York State are provided information and resources about what palliative care is and how it may benefit them or loved ones who are living with a life-limiting or chronic illness. Here you will find updated information, current news and resources, answers to common questions and the ability to search for a palliative care provider in your geographical location.
What is Palliative Care?
Palliative care is both a philosophy and an organized system of care providing an extra layer of support to what is already being received. Palliative care is provided by an interdisciplinary team and is focused on the relief of suffering not only from physical pain, but also emotional, social and spiritual pain to achieve the best possible quality of life for patients and their families. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage of an illness, and it can be provided along with treatments that are meant to cure.
