Balancing Profit and Purpose
Andrew Reed

Andrew is perhaps the most influential person in the United States regarding the business operations of hospice. He has introduced many service innovations that have improved not only economic performance, but patient care as well. He has assisted in the creation of some of the most successful hospice business models centered around the ideas of World Class Hospice and Designing the Perfect Hospice. He has worked with hospices for 17 years. He has been the CFO of many hospice programs including Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, Hospice of Palm Beach County, Cedar Valley Hospice and Hospice Care Corporation. He has served on many hospice boards.

Andrew formed Multi-View Incorporated (MVI) in 1996 to provide assistance to hospices specifically in the business area. Since then, MVI has multiplied into several different companies including MVI, MVI Systems, MVI Benchmarking and MVI Executive Accounting Services. MVI serves 500+ hospices of all sizes and in all regions of the country. Andrew has personally visited hundreds of hospices.

Andrew also is an artist, an unusual attribute for a CPA. He is a songwriter affiliated with the Society of European Stage, Authors and Composers. His works have been recorded by numerous artists in the United States and abroad.

Opening Plenary: "Humor and Hospice: Taking Your Job Seriously and Yourself Lightly"
Dr. Joel Goodman

Joel Goodman, Ed.D., founder and Director of The HUMOR Project, is a popular speaker whose programs have tickled and touched the lives of millions of people throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Dr. Goodman has authored eight jest-selling books (including Laffirmations: 1,001 Ways to Add Humor to Your Life and Work). He also has edited the LAUGHING MATTERS magazine, generating rave reviews from thousands of people throughout the U.S. and 20 other countries. Joel has been a pioneer focusing on the positive power of humor and creativity. His work has been featured in over 4,700 TV and radio shows, newspapers, and magazines in 150+ countries, he founded AHA!, the American Humor Association, which includes over 165,000 humor conspirators. He believes that it is important for business to "do well and do good" at the same time: The HUMOR Project has provided grants to 450+ schools, hospitals, and human service agencies to help them develop services and resources that tap the positive power of humor.
